To hold your own copy of Simpro, you can export reports by hand, build on the Simpro API, or use a service that copies your records for you. TradieBridge is a service of the last kind: it copies 88 Simpro resources into a backup your business owns, keeps it current for you, and lets your AI assistant answer questions from it.
Why back up Simpro at all
Simpro’s terms give you 30 days after your services end to get a backup of your data. After that, Simpro may delete it. Ending your subscription starts that clock, and so does Simpro ending it. What happens to your data if you leave Simpro explains the terms in full.
Records also go missing while you still use Simpro. Someone deletes a job or a customer by mistake, and it is gone. A backup that keeps every record it has copied, even after Simpro drops it, lets you find it again.
Four ways to back up Simpro
1. Export reports from Simpro
Simpro exports many lists and reports to CSV or text files. It costs nothing extra and needs no other software. But someone has to remember to run each export, the files are a snapshot of one day, and a full set of jobs, costs and timesheets takes many separate exports.
2. Build your own copy with the Simpro API
Simpro has an API, and a developer can write code that reads it into your own database. You control everything. You also own the upkeep: rate limits, paging, changes to the API and the server it all runs on.
3. A sync or integration service
Several services copy Simpro data into a spreadsheet, a database or another app. They suit a business that needs one particular list in one particular place. Check which resources each one copies, how often, and whether you keep the copy after you stop paying.
4. TradieBridge
TradieBridge reads Simpro through its official API with an API key you create, and keeps each record exactly as Simpro sent it. Your Claude or ChatGPT can then answer questions from that copy, across Simpro and every other system you connect.
Side by side
| TradieBridge | Report exports | Your own API code | A sync service | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who holds the copy | Your business, in TradieBridge, with exports any time | You, as files | You, in your database | Depends on the service |
| How current | Kept current for you | The day you exported | As often as your code runs | Depends on the service |
| Records Simpro deletes | Kept | Kept if exported first | Up to your code | Depends on the service |
| Work to keep it going | None after setup | Someone runs exports | A developer maintains it | Little after setup |
| Ask your AI about it | Yes, with Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP assistant | No | Only if you build it | Depends on the service |
